OCT Visit

Interlaken Part II

Yesterday we had a second visit to the OCT (Overseas China Town) Theme park, this time we went with Guo Guo our 14yr old visitor along with Wushan and Wenji (both 24 and 20yr old girls) and Wenji’s mother.

It was also the day I tried out our new SatNav system, the old one decided to die a death on us and after going into an electronic spiral simply gave up the ghost. The new one, I am more than pleased to say, actually now speaks to me in English and has a full English menu system, so its a lot easier to use, we still have to input the names of places in Chinese, so Rose still has to do that, but its less stress driving now that its a better system, It will probably still send me down blind alleys at times, but it’s worth cutting down the direction frustrations from Rose.

Anyway, it guided us directly there, it was a dull, quite cold, and misty day. The first part of the park is still under construction so we again took the funicular railway up to the mountain top and after a short bus ride over to the other half of the park, the Interlaken part. The main difference this time was that we went into the big theatre for the ‘tea show’, which was the normal spectacular Chinese show but this time it only lasts an hour, as opposed to the normal 3.

The other part we went that we didn’t last time was an indoor plant show, at the end of it we could here this bloke singing his heart out, and after making our way through the show area there was a stage at the end with this lone man singing away. It looked quite odd.

On making our way out of OCT we got on the internal train, now last time we did this it took us to another station and we then went back to the car park, this time however we ended up back where we started! One odd sign at the station was this. "Please do not throw your head and hands out of the train while it is in procession". I didn’t see any headless passengers with head in hands ready to throw!

While on the train a little 3 and half year old Chinese girl tapped me on the shoulder and said hello, (only English she knew) and started talking away to me (translations from Rose), then she started to sing and dance for me, she had said to her mother that she wants to speak English so she can speak to us, after her little songs, Rose gave her a nut, she grabbed it with glee and said, "Look mum its my prize!" Outside the station we started from, we went back outside of the park area to get the bus back to the car park. It was then home, local restaurant for food (food in OCT wasn’t great!) the bed.
